About this Establishment

Montana's liveliest ghost town - thanks to its continuing rehabilitation by the state. A self-paced walking tour covers 75 well-preserved Victorian-era structures, including the Bale of Hay Saloon and the Hangman's Building where vigilantes executed five bandits in 1864. Some 150 living souls occupy the town year-round, down from the 10,000 in the 1860s, when a gold rush churned the gravel of Alder Gulch.
