Geologic features visible along the Beartooth Highway (US Highway 212) are described at specific mileages on the trip from Red Lodge to Cooke City. Road logs were compiled by the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association and the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology.

Beartooth Mountains are NOT nearly 4 billion years old. They are only about 70 Million years old but are made up of rocks as old as 4 billion yrs. Wuite a distinction!!
